Delivery of life-saving emergency assistance, including multi-purpose cash, in-kind support, and emergency response to conflict, disasters, and displacement-affected populations.
Support to primary health services, community health outreach, referral support, and emergency health interventions in underserved and crisis-affected areas.
Nutrition interventions focused on preventing and treating malnutrition among children under five, pregnant and lactating women, and other vulnerable groups.
Support for access to safe, inclusive, and quality education through community-based education, learning support, and education-in-emergencies programming.
Strengthening agricultural productivity through inputs, irrigation rehabilitation, climate-resilient farming practices, and technical capacity building for farmers.
Supporting household food access and resilience through livelihood restoration, income generation activities, market-based interventions, and vocational skills.
Community-based social support targeting vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, women-headed households, returnees, and marginalized populations.
Access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, plus emergency and transitional shelter support and shelter management.
Independent monitoring, assessments, research studies, and evaluation services supporting evidence-based programming and accountability to affected populations and donors.
AHNO implements both small-scale and large-scale projects across these sectors to ensure access to basic services, strengthen community resilience, and support the survival and dignity of vulnerable populations at the community level.

Through its established field networks, trained technical staff, and community-based structures, AHNO ensures efficient program implementation, monitoring, and coordination at the provincial and district levels.
AHNO also maintains surge operational capacity, allowing the organization to rapidly scale up and expand operations to additional provinces in response to emerging humanitarian needs, sudden-onset emergencies, and partner or donor requirements — enabling timely, needs-based humanitarian response across Afghanistan.
